Asha Sharma, Xbox's CEO, held an all-hands meeting to discuss her strategy for a 'return of Xbox' with employees. The agenda included rebranding Microsoft Gaming back to Xbox and reevaluating Xbox exclusive games.
Sharma revealed that the company is looking into reevaluating its approach to exclusivity, windowed releases, and AI, but there's no firm commitment on a return to Xbox exclusives just yet.
The decision to port games to PlayStation and Nintendo Switch was made due to revenue generated by titles like Forza Horizon 5. Microsoft could consider keeping first-party games exclusive to Xbox and PC for a set period of time, though.
The joint memo also discussed Xbox's 'master plan' and being 'honest about where we are.' The new 'north star' for Xbox progress is now daily active players, with priorities on hardware, content, experiences, and services.
