Ikea has shared a sneak preview of three pieces from its new experimental PS collection, set to be fully revealed on May 13th. The collection includes an inflatable chair that features two separate adjustable air chambers wrapped in an emerald green textile cover and surrounded by a carbon steel frame.
The chair, which comes with its own air pump, has passed every durability test Ikea runs on its armchairs. Two other new additions to the PS collection include a solid pine wooden bench designed by Marta Krupińska and a tubular floor lamp created by Lex Pott that can project light in different directions.
This isn't the first time Ikea's designers have experimented with inflatable furniture, having previously introduced an inflatable easy chair and sofa in 2000. However, those pieces were expensive and suffered from leaky valves, resulting in them slowly deflating over a matter of days.
