President Donald Trump announced Thursday that a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, set to expire Sunday, will be extended for three weeks. The decision came during the second round of peace talks at the White House.

The extension was requested by Lebanon, which has been represented in the talks by its ambassador to the U.S. Israel's ambassador to the U.S. also participated, along with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and State Department Counselor Michael Needham.

Trump made the announcement as he met with participants from both sides in the Oval Office, including Vice President JD Vance.

The ceasefire was first agreed upon on August 27, and its initial expiration date was set for September 6. The extension will give negotiators more time to work towards a longer-term agreement.
