Samsung's semiconductor division has earned an estimated $38 billion in profit in the first quarter of 2026, a record-breaking figure.
The company's plans to expand memory and storage production lines may not be enough to meet demand, with Nekkei Asia projecting a potential 40% shortfall in DRAM production in 2027.
Rising costs are already affecting phone prices, with Motorola raising the price of its Moto G budget phones by up to 50%. Samsung has also increased prices on some devices, including the Galaxy A37 and A57 mid-range devices.
The company is expected to release new, ultra-expensive phones this summer, including a new generation of Galaxy Z foldables with ample storage and RAM.
