Google Cloud Global Director of Healthcare Aashima Gupta has outlined the rapid embedding of artificial intelligence into clinical workflows, driven by frontline demand rather than top-down pressure. She emphasized the importance of trust in AI adoption, citing data residency, audibility and role-based access controls as key to success.

Gupta envisions a future where every patient has access to an AI assistant through their healthcare provider, hospital or clinic, with purpose-built chatbots offering hyper-personalized recommendations. She encouraged smaller providers to 'be in the arena' by experimenting with early pilots and building expertise.

The goal is not to replace workers but to empower clinicians with AI as a capacity engine, allowing them to focus on high-value, human-centered care while AI handles repetitive tasks.

Gupta's message highlights the transformative potential of AI in healthcare, from stitching together systems like electronic medical records and imaging systems to executing multi-step processes. The real battle is not capability but trust, she said.
